Crisis/Consequence Management
B&A, under it’s A&AS role with Northrop Grumman, supports DTRA in Crisis/Consequence Management
program development, budgeting, and management of a number of programs that will result in the
ability to detect, counter, or respond to attacks employing Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD).
A Unique Approach
B&A provides unparalleled assistance to DTRA’s Chem/Bio Directorate in the development of plans, programs,
and operational procedures for remediation of the consequences or effects of the use of WMD. Paramount
in this effort is the development and execution of realistic training exercises to ensure that the first
responders are properly equipped and prepared to handle potential events.
B&A also contributes to the understanding of the sciences of how the effects of WMD propagate within the
targeted environment. This is equally important from a defensive/response posture as it is from a potential
preemptive strike scenario against weapons caches to preclude their future use. This science also provides
models that can be used by first responders to limit the effectiveness of WMD on the lose of life and to
remediate the aftermath of their usage.
