B&A is providing Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) support, under the Northrop Grumman effort to the Defense Threat Reduction Agency, on the management and integration of the Research and Development activities across the extensive portfolio designed to provide solutions to all facets of the proliferation and consequences associated with the use of WMD. These massive DTRA programs involve not only the uniformed services, but also the national labs, universities, and industrial assets across the country and international partnerships as well, in an effort to find solutions to protect against these deadly weapons. This compendium of efforts must be coordinated to ensure technical effectiveness as well as the full efficiency of the limited available resources.

A Unique Approach

Specifically, B&A personnel assist DTRA in evaluation of the effectiveness of programs, the mapping of the multi-pronged efforts to avoid duplication and its inherent waste of resources, the identification of technical gaps or shortfalls in the overall posture, and the syncopation and coordination of the program in its entirety. These efforts require the unique operational experience, education, and talents of the B&A employees assigned to these tasks. These skill sets range from program and budget management to scientific expertise. An important effort also supports the front office in preparing the materials to communicate the DTRA programmatic story to officials at all level of the US Government and its allies.
